The Shirley
Hotel is a handsome, elegant period property built in the French villa style as
only the Victorians could, and what a splendid job they did. It enjoys a
tranquil position away from the hustle, bustle and traffic, but is only
a five minute stroll from the harbour, marina, restaurants, retail
therapy and the famous vibrant Torquay nightlife. The interiors are
simply delicious, with immaculately presented en-suite bedrooms,
beautiful dining room, relaxing comfortable lounge and bar, and all this
is surrounded
by a timeless Victorian house elegance. There is even an outdoor heated
swimming pool. Debbie & Garry are a smashing, friendly couple whose
commitment to their guests' comfort, relaxation and enjoyment is simply
fabulous and really makes staying here extra special. Their
murder-mystery weekends are not to be missed; they have a seventies theme
and are
hilariously fun and scary, so "drag" out your flares and platforms if you know what we mean.
The Shirley really is a fabulous hospitable and friendly stay.

Steph’s style brief is superb; her use of a soft neutral palette complemented by stylish throws, lighting and natural wood, just works so incredibly well, creating a selection of luxury and superior rooms that are spacious, comfortable and elegant. With just five bedrooms, it is never crowded which creates a wonderful air of relaxation and intimacy. That's the Villa Marina.

The first thing you notice about this hotel is that it is
absolutely spotless, slightly eclectic with the odd bit of chintz, but

leave room for Rosie's breakfasts - they are legendary.

In a quiet tree-lined avenue near the Riviera Centre is where we found this superb and elegant little hotel. Inside, the house is simply immaculate. The dining room and residents' lounge are beautifully presented and the bedrooms are just stunning. The proprietors Dianne and Simon are two of the friendliest hosts that you are ever likely to meet. On arrival, they welcome you with a tray of tea or coffee and their knowledge of local places of interest and restaurants is amazing. Talking of food, the breakfasts are wonderful with a fabulous choice of goodies.
